Day 25

Day 25:  Gospel Influence

The root of seeking the Immeasurably More God wants to do through us has to be Gospel Influence.  Gospel Influence is allowing the gospel to have an influence in the places we play, live and work.

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.  Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”  Ephesians 5:15-17

We have a responsibility in how we represent our relationship with Christ.  To be very honest I do not always represent Christ in an extremely righteous way.  I drink alcohol, which others have called ungodly, I sometimes slip and say an ugly word (curse), and I am not always wise.  As I have said before in the blog, we are human, we sin. We will never be perfect and we may be judged wrongly but we cannot let that stop us from what God has to do through us.  Ask for forgiveness and let the Gospel influence YOU!

The gospel has an effect on us in character, development and behavior.  This happens through our connection with the Holy Spirit.  We are a work in progress, the Immeasurably More in us.  We have a responsibility in representing the gospel and the effect it will have on others, the Immeasurably More through us.

What I yearn to learn is the discernment for a healthy balance.  We have life that gets in the way of our connection with God and what He wants to do through us, but we need to learn to discern this healthy balance.  Allowing room in our spirits for His spirit to move freely working His powerful ways in and through me, us.  Allowing His Holy Spirit to move in us provides the ability for His Will to be done through us.

“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.  Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Ephesians 5:18-20

Be filled with the Holy Spirit representing the Gospel to all where you live, work and play.  Our Gospel Influence is an outward representation of God doing Immeasurably More through us walking in love as Christ did.

“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”  Ephesians 1-2

"Believers need to understand what God has called every believer to pursue and what He has called every believer to avoid. In short, understanding the Lord’s will means to pattern our life after Jesus" Tony Merida.
Patterning our lives after Jesus leads us to have Gospel Influence.  What is the result of us living with Gospel Influence?  God’s glory is put on display!!!  I seek to walk in the Gospel Influence God has given me through His power to do Immeasurably More through me allowing His glory to be displayed.

How is your life being used to have gospel influence in the places you live, work, and play?  Can you take a look at your life and begin to walk in the Gospel Influence God has given you?  Do you see the changes that are happening in and through you as you seek the Immeasurably More God has willed for you?

  1. I love the phrase Gospel influence....and patterning my life after his. Relying on his strength, not my own. Thank you for your words today!
